Getting started

01How do I set up Untrack for the first time?Bike, ride goal and default start location

First launch → Set up your first-route profile

Complete path

  1. Launch the app and choose Start on the Set up your first-route profile screen.
  2. At the Bike step, choose Road, Gravel, MTB or City / e-bike. This affects the roads, surfaces and elevation used in route proposals.
  3. At Ride goal, select one or more goals such as exploring new roads, riding regularly, training or Coffee Ride.
  4. At Start, turn on Use GPS. If iOS asks, allow location access while using the app.
  5. Optionally choose Home address, search for your home, office or parking place, and tap the correct result.
  6. Choose Create profile, then Go to map.

Done: Untrack now has the base settings needed to generate your first route. No external account connection is required.

02Where do I add, change or remove my home address? The exact path to your default route start

Profile → photo or settings action in the header → Settings → Preferences → Home address

Add or change the address

  1. Choose Profile in the bottom navigation.
  2. Tap your profile photo or the settings action in the profile header to open Settings.
  3. Scroll to Preferences and choose Home address.
  4. In Search address, enter street, number and city. You can also choose an item under Recently selected.
  5. Tap the correct result. It saves immediately and becomes available as the Home start.
  6. To change it later, open Home address again and select a new search result.

Remove the address

  1. Tap the remove icon next to the saved address.
  2. In Remove home address?, choose Remove address.
  3. After removal, routes and weather return to the current GPS location.

City in your profile does not replace the home address. City is used for local suggestions and may appear on your profile; the exact route start is controlled by Home address.

03How do I change my bike or city?Preferences that shape future recommendations

Profile → Settings → Preferences

  1. Open Profile, go to Settings, and find Preferences.
  2. Choose Bike, then Road, Gravel, MTB or City / e-bike. The choice saves when selected.
  3. After changing bikes, review your next route options because the app adjusts default surface, terrain and road-character preferences.
  4. To change the place displayed on your profile and used for local suggestions, choose City, enter its name and save.
  5. To change the actual beginning of a route, edit Home address separately or use GPS.

Route generation

04How do I quickly generate a route from the map?The shortest path from settings to a ready loop

Map → quick filters → Generate route

  1. Choose Map in the bottom navigation.
  2. Select Coffee Ride as the route mode.
  3. Set the distance, then choose preferred terrain and surface using the quick filters above the map.
  4. Check that the map is centered on the right start. If not, open Options and change the start source.
  5. Tap Generate route or the button showing the approximate distance.
  6. When generation finishes, tap the route card at the bottom of the map to open details, elevation profile and actions.

Free includes unlimited basic generation and one proposal. For a different line, choose Generate again.

05How do I configure every Coffee Ride option?Start, distance, direction, terrain, roads and surface

Map → Options → Coffee Ride

  1. On Map, tap the sliders button labeled Options.
  2. Choose a start: My location uses GPS and Home uses the saved address. If you see Add home, set a home address first.
  3. Select a target distance. The displayed time is an estimate based on distance and ride settings.
  4. Choose a preferred loop direction. It affects ranking, but the local road network can change the final line.
  5. Under Route preferences, choose elevation intent, road character / traffic and surface.
  6. Pro adds more control over climbing, repeated roads and proposal parameters.
  7. Choose Generate route at the bottom.

Distance, terrain and direction are preferences. The result can vary slightly when required by available roads or selected route points.

06How do I add a route point or custom start?Cafe, viewpoint, finish and manually selected start

Map → Options → route point or Start point Pro

  1. Open Map and choose Options.
  2. To begin somewhere other than GPS or Home, choose Start point Pro, search for a place, or position the pin on the map.
  3. To route through a specific place, add a route point and search for a cafe, viewpoint, address or another place.
  4. Tap the correct result and confirm its position on the map. Add more points only when their order matches the intended ride.
  5. If Untrack warns that a point extends the route, increase the distance or remove the distant point.
  6. Choose a loop returning to the start or a route ending at the selected place, depending on the selected layout.
  7. Tap Generate route and confirm the line passes through the chosen places.

A custom start point and full planning through route points are Pro features. GPS and the saved Home start remain available in basic planning.

07How do I generate a training route?Training intent, duration and workout blocks — Pro

Map → Route mode → Training → training options

  1. On Map, open the mode selector and choose Training.
  2. If the Pro screen appears, activate Pro or return to a basic Coffee Ride.
  3. Choose a session intent such as Endurance / Z2, Tempo / Sweet Spot, VO2max, climbing strength or mixed training.
  4. Set the available time, target distance or pace, depending on the visible training configuration.
  5. Optionally add route points and more detailed effort blocks.
  6. Review start, bike and terrain, then choose Generate route.
  7. On the proposal, confirm distance, elevation and how well the line fits the training goal.
08How do I choose the right route proposal?Map, elevation, variants and Route Confidence

Map → generated route → details card

  1. After generation, tap the bottom route card to open details.
  2. Compare distance and estimated time with the time you actually have.
  3. Review elevation gain and the elevation profile, especially for an easy ride or climbing session.
  4. Check surface mix, the fit explanation and any diagnostics about route points or distance variance.
  5. In Pro, use Variants to compare alternate lines or distances and choose the best fit.
  6. Review Route Confidence. It describes the quality and fit of available route data; it is not a safety guarantee.
  7. If the result does not fit, return to the map, change one parameter and choose Generate again.

Before and during a ride, check local signs, road access, construction, weather and real conditions.

RidePilot Pro

09How do I use a RidePilot Pro recommendation? One best ride based on time, bike and conditions

Profile → Today’s ready ride → Generate best route

  1. Choose Profile in the bottom navigation to open the RidePilot dashboard.
  2. On Today’s ready ride, review the ride type, distance, duration and short explanation.
  3. If the card says Set start, first choose GPS, Home or another available start.
  4. Review conditions, surface and Route Confidence used in the recommendation.
  5. Tap Generate best route and wait for the proposal.
  6. Open details and choose Save, GPX or Ride.

RidePilot uses Untrack preferences and first-party data. It does not require Strava or another external account.

10How do I read weather and the weekly plan?Wind, rain and a better ride window — Pro

Profile → RidePilot dashboard → Cycling weather today / Weekly plan

  1. On the RidePilot dashboard, open Cycling weather today.
  2. Review temperature, wind and rain probability for the start location.
  3. Compare those conditions with the length and intent of the suggested ride. In worse conditions, consider a shorter option closer to the start.
  4. Open Weekly plan to compare today’s suggestion with the next day and weekend.
  5. If a better window is later, revisit RidePilot before leaving because the recommendation can change with current conditions.

The forecast supports your decision but does not replace an on-site assessment. Check conditions again immediately before riding.

Saved routes and GPX

11How do I save, find, rate or delete a route?Complete route management after generation

Route details → Save → Activity

  1. Open a generated route’s details and tap Save.
  2. To return later, choose Activity in the bottom navigation.

Free stores up to 5 saved items. Ratings, rejected routes and selected routes help improve future fit.

Route details → GPX / Save + GPX → iOS share sheet

  1. Open a generated or saved route and go to its details.
  2. Tap GPX or Save + GPX. If needed, Untrack saves the route before export.
  3. In the iOS share sheet, choose Garmin Connect, Wahoo, Save to Files or another GPX-capable app.
  4. Confirm route import in that app and sync it to the head unit if required.
  5. Before leaving, open the route on the device and confirm the start and line are correct.

GPX export is a Pro feature. The iOS share-sheet list depends on installed apps, and later steps differ between Garmin, Wahoo and other devices.

Ride recording

13How do I record a normal GPS ride in Free?Start, auto-pause, finish and activity saving

Bottom navigation → Record → Start

  1. Choose Record in the bottom navigation to open free-ride recording.
  2. If iOS asks, allow location while using Untrack and enable Precise Location.
  3. Wait for a correct GPS position, then choose Start.
  4. During the ride, monitor time, distance and track. Use Pause and Resume as needed; auto-pause excludes stops from moving time.
  5. At the end, choose Finish and confirm.
  6. In the summary, enter an activity name, optionally add a rating, then save.
  7. Open Activity later to view the saved ride.

Free: GPS recording and auto-pause are included. A saved activity counts toward the 5-item saved limit.

Extended GPS use can increase battery use.

14How do I ride and record a planned route?Start route guidance with Ride — Pro

Generated or saved route → Details → Ride

  1. Generate a route on the map or open one from Activity.
  2. On details, recheck the start, line, distance and elevation profile.

Account and Untrack Pro

15How do I buy, restore or cancel Untrack Pro?Trial, Pro Monthly and Pro Season in the App Store

Profile → Settings → Account → Plan → Subscription

Activate Pro

  1. Open Profile, go to Settings, then choose Plan under Account. Tapping a locked Pro feature also opens the subscription screen.
  2. If eligible, choose Try 3 days free.
  3. Select Pro Season for 3 months or Pro Monthly. Always use the local price shown by the App Store.
  4. Tap the unlock button, read the confirmation and approve the purchase in Apple’s system sheet.
  5. Return to Untrack and confirm the screen says Pro plan is active.

Restore and manage

  1. If active Pro is missing after reinstalling or changing devices, sign in to the right account and choose Restore purchases or Sync purchases.

  3. To change or cancel renewal, choose Manage in the App Store. Apple handles purchase, renewal and cancellation.

If the purchase appears in the App Store but not Untrack, email billing@untrack.cc with the screen, app version and approximate purchase time. Do not send full payment details.

16What does every notification type do?7 switches, Free/Pro differences and iPhone settings

Profile → Settings → Notifications

Enable push notifications

  1. Open Profile, tap the gear and scroll to Notifications.
  2. Enable the main Push notifications switch. When it is off, every type below is inactive.
  3. Accept the iOS system prompt the first time. The in-app setting and the iPhone permission must both be enabled.
  4. Enable only the message types you want. Each switch is saved to your account when changed.
  5. Tap the information icon next to the section title to read the short in-app explanation for every type.

What every switch does

Push notifications Free
The master switch. When it is off, Untrack sends no pushes even if individual types below remain selected.
Ideal ride time Pro
Uses roughly the next 3 hours of weather and wind around your start. It can notify you when conditions look favorable for a ride.
Weather window Pro
Sends a signal when conditions around you begin to improve, for example after a period of worse weather.
Weekend forecast Pro
Reminds you before Saturday or Sunday when the forecast shows a useful window for planning a route.
New area Pro
Suggests a loop through less familiar roads when it may be worth leaving your usual riding pattern.
How was the route? Free
Can ask for a rating and short feedback after a ride. Your response helps improve later recommendations.
Back on the bike Free
A gentle reminder after a longer break from activity. It is not a training plan or mandatory schedule.

If notifications do not arrive

  1. Confirm that the main switch in Untrack is enabled.
  2. Open iPhone Settings → Notifications → Untrack and enable Allow Notifications.
  3. For weather alerts, set a valid GPS position or Home address so the app knows which conditions to use.
  4. Check the active plan: the four Pro-marked alert types are disabled on Free accounts.
  5. Enabling a switch does not send a message immediately. A push appears only when the relevant context occurs.

The iPhone notification permission overrides switches in Untrack. After allowing notifications again, keep the app online so preferences can sync.

17What if GPS cannot find my location?Permissions, precise position and an alternate start

iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Untrack

  1. In iPhone Settings, open Privacy & Security, then Location Services and Untrack.
  2. Allow location while using the app and enable Precise Location.
  3. Return to Untrack: Map → Options → My location.
  4. Move into an open area, wait briefly and use the refresh / GPS-center action.
  5. If the position is stale, close and reopen Untrack and check whether iPhone is restricting location services.
  6. As a fallback, choose Home. A custom manual start point is available in Pro.
  7. If the app uses the wrong home, follow the home-address guide.
18What does every Profile and Settings option do?Complete guide to your account, preferences and data

Bottom navigation → Profile → gear → Settings

What is on the Profile screen

Photo and name
The header identifies your profile. Tapping the avatar opens Settings, just like the gear on the right.
Followers / Following
The counters open people who follow you or people you follow. A new-follower badge shows people you have not reviewed yet.
Information icon
Explains how Untrack combines your ride profile, start, history and weather into today’s suggestion.
Today’s ready ride
Shows the current RidePilot recommendation. You can generate the route, adjust its settings or share the plan. If no start is set, Set start appears first.
Profile statistics
Saved routes, Completed activities, Total distance and Total elevation open Activity. Distance and elevation use rides marked as ridden.
Cycling Weather Pro
Shows conditions for current GPS or the saved home address. On Free, the card explains that detailed weather is a Pro feature.

Settings → Account

Email
Displays the address used by the signed-in account. It is informational; the login email cannot be changed from this screen.
Profile photo
Opens the iPhone photo library and lets you select and crop a square avatar used in the app. iOS photo access is required. The × action removes the saved avatar.
Plan
Shows Free, an active trial or Pro. Tapping it opens Subscription with the App Store price, purchase, restore and plan-management actions.

Settings → Preferences

Bike
Road, Gravel, MTB or City / e-bike affects surface, elevation and proposal scoring. Changing it also sets appropriate defaults for terrain, distance and calmer traffic on future routes.
City
Used for local rider suggestions, search and the location shown on your public profile. It is a general city, not an exact route start.
Home address
The exact point used as a route start and weather location. Selecting a result saves it and changes the default start from GPS to Home. The × action removes it and restores GPS. See the complete home-address guide.

Settings → Notifications

This section contains the master switch and six message types: Ideal ride time, Weather window, Weekend forecast, New area, How was the route? and Back on the bike. Four weather / discovery types require Pro; feedback and the inactivity reminder also work in Free. See the guide to all 7 switches.
